Hi Nelz,

You can definitely expect performance from all of the MacBook Pro laptops that are currently available. Starting at 500 GB you will have plenty of space for lots of music.

For portability, 13 inch is a good size and for running and viewing DJ software like Traktor and Serato it's totally sufficient.

However, if you're going to be working in Ableton producing your own tracks, then the 15 inch display will be really nice.

Personally, I'm currently using 13 inch but am planning to go for a 15 inch MacBook Pro for my next laptop.

Basically, I think it goes to personal choice and your budget. Even the base 13 inch MacBook Pro is a high performance and highly capable machine that's perfect for DJing.

Greetings.
MacBook 13inch or 15inch?
Would one or the other make a difference in portability and/or capacity?

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I did a little research and it appears that the Allen & Heath Xone XD2-53 DJ Headphones are the new model of the XD-53's.

Quote from Allen & Heath: "They are the brand new model. Same as the previous, but a bit better."

From Allen & Heath website: "Xone XD2-53s come in a stylish new gunmetal finish and feature a detachable coiled cable."

They are already available at Amazon, here is the link: Allen & Heath Xone XD2-53 DJ Headphones at Amazon.com

gotta say that of course marketing was big with beats by dre.. but they cannot just market a product that sucks. i am ok with the quality monster provided for their headphones and i love the looks. you cannot get past that fact. the looks count and i love that they are as famous.

Sounds great! Thanks for your input. That's great to know.

Sounds like stability and response is probably better with the Pioneer DDJ-S1 than with Serato Scatch Live and CDJ's. Great solution and without all the cables and set-up.

Used CDJ1000s + DJM600. Now using DDJ-S1 and not missing the CD players. Its a comfortable crossover from CD players to controller. Also very stable with lightning quick response - large cache i guess.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your comment.

If you are used to Pioneer equipment then you may want to go with a Pioneer DJ Controller like the Pioneer DDJ-T1 for Traktor.

However, the one DJ controller that I see again and again in clubs is the Traktor Kontrol S4. I recently saw the S4 being used as the mixer for 2 CDJ-2000's. So you can have the CDJ's on channels 3 and 4 while running 1 and 2 from your laptop.

If you you're into Serato DJ software then you may want to check out the Pioneer DDJ-S1 DJ Controller.

Obviously, you already know what Pioneer quality is all about and Native Instruments is doing a really good job with the Kontrol S4 and S2. The S2 being the best controller if you want to be able to throw it into a carry-on bag.

Hope that helps, cheers
